According to the Appleton Police Department, the incident occurred around midday near the Highway 441 and East Calumet Street interchange. Investigators reported that a heavy-duty tow truck exited the highway, left the roadway, and struck a light pole, resulting in a chain of events in which a detached dump truck overturned and struck Wagner’s vehicle.
Emergency responders arrived promptly and attempted life-saving measures at the scene. Despite these efforts, Wagner was pronounced deceased at the location of the crash.
